Borjomi Spa, |
Borjomi is famed for its excellent mineral waters, which were known throughout the Soviet Union. As an established spa town, it is currently reinventing itself as an international health resort. Below: The little train which saunters up to the ski resort at Bakuriani - not for those in a hurry! |

The mineral waters emerge from a depth
of ten kilometres into a large wooded park which has been established
over the last two centuries, notably by the Russian royal family in
the late 1800's, and visited by the elite in Russian and later Soviet
society.

The spa town of Borjomi has a noticably
cooler climate than other localities in the region, even in the summer,
whereas nearby Bakuriani is well-known as a ski resort in the winter
months.
